Set in the middle of 6 acres of land, adjacent Edelweiss Creek, the cabin has all the modern comforts to make your stay enjoyable. Whether relaxing in the hot tub as you take in the views, reading a book by the fire, or enjoying the tiled walk-in shower, the cabin is a great place to escape or for easy access to all that Golden has to offer. The bunkhouse is attached directly to the cabin's walk-around deck. The bunkhouse offers an additional bedroom with a queen-size bed as well as two twin-size bunks and a half-bath. Separated just enough to create privacy between the main cabin and bunkhouse, the bunkhouse also offers an unrivaled view of Little Sir Donald. Families are welcome and a pack-n-play crib as well as a high chair is available for guest use. Little ones shall be supervised at all times as the natural environment at the cabin presents some hazards including fall from heights, steep embankments, open water and potential for wildlife. We recently finished building the second cabin on the property and there may be guests staying at the other cabin during your stay. The cabins are set apart several hundred feet, face in different directions and both feature private outdoor space that is not visible from the other.

Other Details to Note

Before you book, please note the following: 1. During winter (November to end of April), an all-wheel-drive or 4x4 vehicle with good snow tires is recommended as the driveway is long, steep and often snow covered. 2. The maximum number of guests we can accommodate is 6. 3. There is a second cabin on the property that has been accepting guests since June 2025. The two cabins are situated such that the views, hot tubs and outdoor space are private and not within view of each other.

Neighborhood

The cabin is located in Golden, BC and very close to downtown in the historic "Edelweiss Village". Edelweiss Village was built in the early 1900s in the early CPR employed experienced Swiss guides to help tackle the mountain trails. To make them feel more at home, the CPR constructed six Swiss-style chalets and thus began the golden age of mountaineering that still remains a focus for both residents and visitors. Found on a hillside at the west entrance to town, the original homes still stand overlooking Golden and the Columbia Valley.

With your reservation you will have access to the main cabin and connected bunkhouse with sleeping for up to 6 people (2 queen beds, and 2 single bunkbeds). The outdoor space is yours to enjoy with 6 acres of forested land, a private deck attached to the cabin, a private hot tub and private fire pit.

Cannot say enough great things about Evan’s cabins and his unique craftsmanship of building the cabins. From the moment we stepped in, we felt right at home and excited about our stay. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed, the most comfortable mattress we have slept on, and the hot tub was in pristine condition. Although you are only 5 mins from town, it truly felt like a secluded get away. We cannot wait to come back!

We loved the cabin. We got a lot of use out of the fire pit, hot tub and espresso/coffee machine. Close to downtown restaurants and beautiful Mountain Viewpoint. We could hear the highway noise but that wasn’t an issue for us. We had everything we needed to cook. We tried the loft bed but was thankful for the extra sleeping options on the ground floor. We would rent again if we come back to this area.

Beautiful cabin with great views over Kicking Horse. Very peaceful, quiet location with easy access to the Trans-Canada and quick drive to town for restaurants-groceries. Close to multiple national parks and great hiking. Would absolutely stay again in the future.

We had a wonderful stay! The chalet is super cute with a beautiful view. Our host was amazing - very responsive and accommodating. Everything was clean and cozy, making it easy to feel at home. The only small note is that the ladder to the mezzanine is a bit steep, but overall we highly recommend this place!

The house is located in a very quiet spot in the middle of the woods, with a splendid view of the mountains and the valley. The rooms are very clean and welcoming. We made extensive use of the outdoor porch with its jacuzzi and barbecue. We had a truly wonderful time and would love to return in the winter. Evan was a very thoughtful host, offering suggestions and advice on how to make the most of our stay. Thank you for everything, and goodbye!

Find us

Golden is a small town and getting around is easy via car, walking or biking. Guests should be aware that during winter months, a 4x4 or AWD vehicle is required as Ottoson Road is steep and often snow covered. There is no public transportation available however there are taxis available from downtown to the cabin if required. As of 2023 there is also a shuttle from downtown Golden to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
